Cheder (Religion School)

Cheder kidsThe cheder meets fortnightly on Saturday afternoons, in very attractive premises in Marchmont. We have enthusiastic teachers in Norman Crane, Nancy Lynner, Wendy Crane and Joanna Bleau.  Children can attend from age 5 upwards. Details of forthcoming sessions can be found at our cheder page.

Tea and Talmud

During his visits Rabbi Mark holds meetings to discuss Talmud or other sources in members’ homes or at one of our venues.  Topics range widely and often lead to animated discussions. Times and places vary according to his other commitments during his visit. See forthcoming dates on our diary page.

Library - coming soon we hope.

We now have a collection of Jewish children’s books and teaching materials which may be borrowed by members. We hope to expand this collection into a library of both adult and children’s books which may be borrowed by members. Lisa Barcan is acting as librarian to organise this.

Spinoza Reading group

Since September 2009 Rabbi Mark has been leading a group which reads and discusses excerpts from the Eighteenth century philosopher Spinoza. Anyone is welcome to join this group which usually meets on Sunday afternoons (see diary for forthcoming dates). The texts we have discussed so far can be found on the resources page.
