Sukkat Shalom’s quarterly newsletter/magazine, Etrog, has returned after a year-long hiatus.
With a focus on Scottish-Jewish interest items, we publish reflections on community events, book and film reviews, ecological tips, visual art, conversations with members and more.
Among other things, the latest edition collects reflections on our 20th anniversary, a new poem by Ellen Galford, visual art by Charlie Raab and Miriam Vickers, book reviews of Meet Me in Gaza and Occupied Words, a film review of Between the Temples, and a Jewish folktale about the notorious trickster Hershel of Ostropol.
After some archaeological research, we’re also proud to present a near-complete Etrog (formerly Lulav) archive, dating back to 2002 — two years before Sukkat Shalom officially existed. There are some real treasures in the archive, taking in 22 years of local Jewish history and the story of our community.
Etrog is distributed via our mailing list and should have arrived in your inbox last week (December 30th), but it can also be downloaded here.
