International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Hate is a Failure of Imagination

27th January, 5:30pm, Edinburgh New Town Church

The following event is free and open to the public and has been promoted to us by the German Consulate General:

Hate is a failure of imagination marks the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

This year, we will put an emphasis on artists who were imprisoned in the ghetto and concentration camp Theresienstadt, liberated 80 years ago. They defied the hatred and contempt for humanity of Nazi ideology in their own way: with imagination and creativity.

Following an introduction, narrator Gregorij H. von Leitis will read texts which bear witness to the deep humanity that these artists retained and can give us courage today. Piano music played by Matthew Shiel (Live Music Now Scotland) will complement the reading.

Join on Monday, 27th January 2025, 5.30 p.m. at the Edinburgh New Town Church (13 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 2PA). It is a free and public event.

If you wish to attend, we would be grateful if you could let us know by Friday, 24 January 2025. Please RSVP to L-vz1@edin.diplo.de.
