We look forward to celebrating Purim with you at St Marks on Saturday 15 March 2025, 11am.
Like last year, cheder and the wider Sukkat Shalom community will have our Purim party together. Please join us at 11am for games, crafts, our annual hamentaschen competition, and lots of other Purim fun!
All are welcome to bring hamentaschen or another snack for sharing. It’s a mitzvah to make noise so all are encouraged to bring a jar or container to our gregor making station. And of course all attendees are invited to wear fancy dress!
At 12, we’ll have a megillah reading, costumes parade, and the anticipated announcement of the winning hamentaschen.
As we did last year, we’ll have a big mishlochey manot exchange. These are individual parcels of treats that can include several sweet and savoury treats – maybe include your favourite family snacks or some hamentaschen. Please bring one for each participating person, everyone is welcome. We’ll draw names from a hat so everyone who brings a mishloach manot will get a random one in return!
Please could all food that’s brought, including that in the mishloach manot be vegetarian and nut free. If you do bring food, we ask that you label it and if possible list any allergens that may be in it (e.g., gluten, diary, etc).
At 12.30 we’ll have our purimspiel. We appreciate Ash Alexander and Daniel Power for leading last year’s Purimspiel. This year, we will use their brilliant script again and are announcing a call for actors now! If you are interested in volunteering to be one of our actors, sign up in this quick form. We have linked the script but will also have hard copies on the day of. No previous acting experience needed and all ages are welcomed! For any questions email Andrea Torres, andreatorres@eljc.org.
