20th Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony

29th April, 18:30, Online

American Friends of Combatants for Peace write:

On April 29, bereaved Palestinians and Israelis will again stand side by side at the Joint Memorial Day Ceremony, refusing to let pain turn into hatred. Refusing to be enemies. For the past 20 years of the annual ceremony, our community has mourned. For 20 years, we’ve carried unbearable grief—each society with stories too heavy to bear alone. This year, we come together to boldly declare:

We will not accept this violence as our future.

We will not let this seemingly endless cycle of bloodshed be our destiny.

And we will not give up on our vision of what is possible for our land.

The Joint Memorial is not like other ceremonies. Whereas official memorials in Israel often entrench despair and exclude Palestinian grief, the Joint Memorial transforms it. It creates a sacred space where grief becomes a bridge, where remembrance becomes resistance, where choosing humanity becomes a radical act of hope—and an invitation to freedom for all.

Because real freedom means freedom from fear. From military occupation. From sirens, airstrikes, checkpoints, tunnels. From the belief that anyone must die for others to live.

This vision is alive—in the defiance of those still under siege in Gaza, in the courage of families demanding a hostage deal, in every voice that says: Enough.

And it’s under attack. In this climate, the Joint Memorial takes even greater courage. Its organizers face political pressure, threats, and backlash—but they refuse to back down. Because this is more than a memorial. It is a powerful choice. A liberatory vision of a new reality for Palestinians and Israelis.
