Fiona Frank is SCoJeC’s former Outreach and Projects manager and wears many other hats including promoter of the art of her aunt, the late Glasgow artist Hannah Frank.Fiona recently returned from a 14 months travelling adventure, following the tragic story of the murder of British environmental journalist Dom Phillips to Brazilian Amazonia; returning to a Peruvian Amazonian indigenous village she’d first visited in 1984; having her photo taken at the Dr Leo Frank park in Prince Edward Island (commemorating a distant cousin who’d made his fortune trading fox fur in the 1930s); and volunteering at two Klezmer festivals, KlezKanada in Montreal and Yiddish New York.In this, the first of several themed events about her travels, she’ll talk about her ‘Jewish journey’: encounters with Jewish communities, Jewish history, Jewish music and Jewish geography. And there’ll be enough mountains, rivers, sunsets and pictures of tropical fruit to satisfy anyone wanting a straight “travel journey”.
