The Lit: An Unbreakable Bond

22nd March, 7:30pm, location upon sign-up

The Lit (Edinburgh Jewish Literary Society) is a discussion forum for culture and history with a Jewish connection. For this year’s meetings, details of how to attend (remotely or in person), and information about how to support the Lit, please see this page.

On 22nd, Sharon Mail of the Giffnock Newton Mearns Synagogue will be discussing An Unbreakable Bond: The Targu Mures Holocaust Survivors And Their Scottish Saviours.

The talk will focus on the book: why it was written; how the Targu Mures community of concentration and labour camp survivors were discovered by a member of the Glasgow Jewish community; the setting up of the Targu Mures Trust; and a description of how the lives of the survivors and their Scottish saviours were transformed and a beautiful friendship developed. It will include readings from the book and a slideshow.
