I’m visiting Edinburgh. May I attend one of your services?
Of course! Our services are listed in the events calendar. Please contact us with some information about yourself so we can welcome you on the day.
I’m Jewish and interested in membership. How do I join?
If you agree with our values and those of Progressive Judaism, please see our membership page for instructions on how to join.
I’m not Jewish and interested in membership. How do I join?
As a non-Jew — perhaps the non-Jewish partner of a Jewish person — you may be interested in associate membership of Sukkat Shalom. See our membership page for details.
Can I convert to Judaism through Sukkat Shalom?
The path towards conversion to Judaism is one requiring substantial commitment and the first step along the path is to start attending services regularly. For more information, please see our page about conversion.
Where does Sukkat Shalom stand on Israel and the Middle East?
In agreeing our purpose and value statements, it is this one on Israel that has led to the most discussion and where people have expressed the most divergent views. Some members simply wish us to say that we support the State of Israel. Others urge that we include a statement in support of the rights for Palestinians and Arab Israelis as a first principle in our engagement with the Israeli State. Some of us would take issue with parts of the Liberal Judaism position on “Israel and Zionism” (2006), but others would be happy to endorse it, see here. Nevertheless we commit ourselves to building our community through mutual respect, regardless of our differences.
