WhatsApp Group: Guidelines for Moderation by Administrators

WhatsApp Group Moderation Guidelines
  1. Council will appoint sufficient moderators to try to ensure that, as far as possible, there will be always at least one available. The moderators will have a group e-mail address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  2. The moderators will republish the code of conduct quarterly to the group and will be responsible for ensuring that members respect it.
  3. If any member of the group feels that the code of conduct has been broken, they should contact the moderators immediately, and notify the group that they have done so. They can contact them by mailing the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. address, or by messaging or phoning any of the moderators individually.
  4. The moderators can decide to take the complaint no further if it does not constitute a possible breach of our community values. All the available moderators will be involved in such a decision, which should be made as quickly as possible. They will then notify the complainant and the group that no action is being taken.
  5. If further action is being taken, the moderators will: bring the complaint to the attention of the person who made the post; acknowledge the problem to the group (asking for no further public comment to be made); mediate any further discussion that’s needed; undertake to provide a resolution plan within a defined (short) time.
  6. If group members continue to comment after the initial complaint, the moderators are entitled to set the group into ‘admin-only’ mode until the resolution plan is fulfilled. They can also remove individual members if necessary.
  7. The resolution plan will be agreed by all moderators. It might consist of an adjudication by the admins, or a mediated meeting or discussion with the parties involved, or something else appropriate to the problem and people.
  8. If the moderators can’t agree at any point of the whole process, council will have the final authority.
