Between The Hague and Jerusalem: The International Legal Arena

This information lecture will discuss international law and legal questions arising in the courts in The Hague. It is part of René Cassin’s ‘International Law Series’ co-sponsored by The Anglo-Jewish Association.

Reuven Ziegler is an Associate Professor in International Refugee Law and co-Chair of the LGBTQIA+ staff network at the University of Reading. He’s speaking at the following online event:

On 29 December 2023, South Africa brought a case before the International Court of Justice regarding Israel’s conduct in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas war, following the attack on Israel by Hamas on 7 October 2023.

On 20 May 2024 Prosecutor, Karim Khan KC asked the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri and Ismail Haniyeh, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
