Sukkat Shalom Sukkot Interfaith Event

26th September, 1pm, Marchmont St. Giles

Sukkot is fast approaching and soon we will be building our community Sukkah again. Traditionally it was encouraged to invite friends, family and strangers to join you in eating a meal within the Sukkah. In this spirit Sukkat Shalom has decided to try a variation on this tradition by hosting a relaxed interfaith event after Sukkot services.

On Saturday 26th of September, we will be hosting an informal bring-and-share lunch alongside craft activities and decorating the Sukkah with invited guests from other faith groups in Edinburgh. This event will be family-friendly and will last from 1pm until around 3pm. Guests will be welcomed by a banner which our Cheder has kindly offered to make. We would like this to be an opportunity for community members from different minority faith groups to get to know each other a bit better.

We would like to encourage everyone to come along to this event, bring food to share and to get involved with the communal decoration of the Sukkah. As always we ask that the food contains no meat or shellfish. Now more than ever, it’s important to strengthen connections between our congregation and other minority religious communities in Edinburgh. We hope to see you there.

Thanks to the volunteers helping with this event. If you’d like to help out, please email samaraleibner@eljc.org.
